In the water
Belt-up your life jacket and rip over the Öresund Strait in a RIB boat – you can go all the way from Malmö to Denmark across the 15.4 km stretch. Or go solo and Jet Ski ride on the sound at 50 knots per hour. Adventurous? Slap on a wet suit and go kite surfing. Speed lover? Experience eyeball-popping acceleration speeds on a ‘speed cat’ boat ride. Inland? Kayak on any of southern Sweden’s picturesque lakes.
Behind the wheel
Take a spin behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo or a Ferrari 430. Or for a mini car with attitude that has been known to put sports cars to shame, go from 0-100 km per hour in just 2.9 seconds in the lightweight Ariel Atom sports car. More of a motorcycle lover? Worry not. You can race Enduro, the slightly nuts off-road, obstacle course motorcycle time trial.
Off the beaten track
Southern Sweden is a sporty spot where you can do all sorts of ‘never-thought-I’d-do-this: but-it’s-fun’ activities. So sign up for one of the widespread adventure courses. Take a tightrope walk above the treetops. Swing from a suspension bridge. Try a ‘summer luge’ – yes, that’s tobogganing around concrete half-pipes, minus the snow. Or if you are afraid of going off the rails, go railroad biking on a bizarre bike with rail adapted wheels. And if you find yourself in Östergotland, try your hand (and mouth) at glassblowing.
Up in the air
Hop on a helicopter and see the blue waters of the Öresund Strait beneath you, the stretch of water separating Malmö from mainland Europe. You can also suit-up and try a tandem parachute jump. And if you don’t fancy a free-fall, book a picnic and get a bird’s eye view of the lakes, forests and rolling landscape of southern Sweden from a hot air balloon.
