Stroll through the parks that wrap around the Stadium district, amble towards the coast, and lap up the rays at Ribersborg.
Ribersborg’s beach
Ribersborg beach is just a 15-minute walk from Central Station in Malmö. It fills up with sun seekers as summer approaches and on its edges are wide lawns for sports and recreational activities. It’s a great place for early morning or evenings jogs if you’ve been sitting down all day.
The landmark Ribersborg pier is here too, and at its tip the famous Ribersborg Kallbadhus. There are several piers here that take you out beyond the very shallow waters. The other beaches of Malmö include Scania Bath in the Western Harbour district, as well as Sibbarp and Klagshamn.
Ribergborg Kallbadhus
The Ribersborg Kallbadhus is a unisex swimming facility built in 1898. It sits at the end of a beautiful wooden pier proudly jutting out into the Öresund Strait. Here you can enjoy a wood-fired or steam sauna and solarium and massage facility for the ladies. It also has a 1900s-style café offering local delicacies and seats up to 100 people.
Just for your information you can bathe in your birthday suit in the brisk waters of Öresund if you want to. Many do. Hey, you're in Sweden, no one's going to notice. Ribersborg Kallbadhus is open year-round.
Breathing space
The parks of Malmö and the canals that wind their way around the older parts of town really add to the 'Malmö experience'. One of these, Kungsparken, is great for walks, with flowerbeds, decorative ponds and shaded areas.
Nearby Slottsparken is somewhat wilder and more expansive with large wooded areas, ponds and lawns that are popular with picnickers. We should mention that all Malmö's parks are within walking distance of each other. The largest green space in Malmö is Pildammsparken. This area, with its large ponds, is fabulous for spotting birdlife or for simply observing nature at work in the middle of a bustling city.
